Before making your final course choices on GCSE results day, it’s really important to do your homework. Take some time to explore which subjects align with your future goals—whether that’s university, an apprenticeship, or jumping straight into a career. A great place to start is the Informed Choices guide, which outlines what top universities are looking for in different degree courses.
Most students will study three or four courses in Year 12, so it’s worth thinking carefully about what suits you best. Do you prefer subjects with coursework or practical elements, or are you more comfortable with exam-based courses? And just as importantly, will these subjects help you get where you want to go next?
Don’t feel like you have to figure it all out on your own. Talk things through with people who know you well—your parents, your tutor, and your subject teachers. They can offer valuable insights and help you think through your options.
We’re also happy to arrange a one-to-one meeting with prospective students and their parents/carers to chat through your choices and explore the different pathways available. This is an exciting time, and we’re here to support you in making confident, well-informed decisions about your next steps.
